The King of Slub 2, a heavyweight 23oz Japanese Selvedge Denim, is the esteemed successor to our groundbreaking King of Slub. This new iteration features our custom-developed "King of Slub" yarn, the result of over two years of dedicated innovation. This uniquely crafted yarn, with its pronounced slubby texture, is incredibly uneven – super thick in some parts and thinner in others – creating an exquisite tactile experience. The King of Slub 2 enhances our original design with a natural colored ecru weft, adding a warm, earthy undertone that beautifully complements warmer tones.
Unsanforized, the King of Slub 2 has not undergone pre-shrinking. Much like the early days of denim, expect these jeans to shrink considerably after the first wash. We recommend consulting our sizing charts on the Tate + Yoko and Naked & Famous Denim NYC product pages for the best fit. By skipping the sanforization process, we've retained more of the slubby texture, as sanforization, which involves compressing the denim, can flatten a slubby texture.
The thickness and unevenness of the yarn allow for irregular indigo absorption, resulting in beautifully fading denim. Over time, the indigo fades, revealing a gradient of shades and crafting a high-contrast, three-dimensional textured fade. The heft of the denim further accentuates your wear patterns, offering a captivating fading experience.
In terms of details, the King of Slub 2 features antique copper hardware, a thick Cuba tan leather patch, a hidden selvedge coin pocket, and a button fly. At the hem, you'll find a classic, yet beefy, thick red line selvedge ID.
