Our newest crazy creation has just been released to stores worldwide… Scratch-n-Sniff Raspberry Scented Denim!

Yes, these jeans actually smell like raspberry candy when scratched. The effect is created by coating the denim fabric with a special coating that contains mini microcapsules. The coating is applied and then baked into the denim. The tiny capsules have a bit of “perfume” inside and as you scratch them the scent is released.

These jeans come in our WeirdGuy fit, in a 12.5oz indigo denim with red leather patch.

We have done 5 wash tests and the smell effect still works well!

New retail store – Tate + Yoko

I am proud and damn excited to announce the opening of our brand new retail concept boutique Tate + Yoko!

Tate + Yoko means “Warp + Weft” in Japanese, which are the 2 directions of yarn that weave denim.

The store is a muitibrand concept that will feature some of our favorite cult denim brands from Japan. These brands are obessed with old-world quality and refuse mass production! Right now, we only carry products that are made in Japan or Canada, but we may add some Made in USA products as well. Here are the brands in the store right now…

Introducing… Paulrose Products

We don’t usually feature other brands on this page, but we’ll make an exception in this case since the brand is kinda like our cousin! Paulrose Products is a brand of workwear that was created in 1960 by my grandfather Paul and my grandmother Rose, hence the name Paulrose Products.
Paul was a great man and the patriarch of our family. After WW2 he immigrated to Canada and built an apparel and workwear business to support his family. Without him, Naked & Famous Denim would not exist.
After he passed away, my father was looking through his office to find anything of sentimental value, and he found an old metal and wooden die stamp from the original Paulrose brand! He showed it to me and I instantly knew that we must create a revival of this old brand in my grandfathers honour. Approximately 50 years after the original launch of this brand of workwear, we have done exactly that.

Here is the die stamp which my father found, and from which we have pulled the original logo…

We have released 4 styles of jeans and 4 styles of shirts. Here are some of the great details we’ve poured into each jean…
- 17oz heavy and slubby unsanforized selvedge denim with a beige ear
- Irregular warp size and is woven at a dangerously low tension in order to achieve the beautiful and old-school texture and appearance.
- Flannel lined rear pockets and flannel pocket bags.
- Copper hidden rivets.
- Concealed selvedge coin pocket.
- Union Special 43200G bulldog chain-stitched hems.
- 10oz thick natural veggie tanned saddle leather patch.

We also have a 14.5oz indigo and black version. Two fits have been released:
1) Heritage - Similar to a 1947 Levis 501. A basic classic Americana fit.
2) Slim - Slim leg tapered modern fit.

New Shirt Fit

Our new shirt fit, called RegularShirt has just arrived in stock!

This new fit is a more relaxed version of our SlimShirt fit that we have been running for years. We will continue to offer the SlimShirt in many fabrics, but now we have added this 2nd fit to accomodate those who prefer a more relazed fit. That is not to say that RegularShirt is a wide or baggy fit, its still slim overall, just not as “skinny” as the SlimShirt fit.

Here are the differences between the 2 fits:

1) RegularShirt has no darting in the back like SlimShirt.
2) RegularShirt has a slightly dropped armhole opening, and slightly wider sleeve.
3) The sleeves on RegularShirt are 1in longer than SlimShirt.

So, for those of you that prefer a slim fit shirt that is a bit more relaxed, the RegularShirt is for you. Or for those guys who have bigger shoulders or bigger muscles or a bit or a tummy that they want to hide… try the new RegularShirt fit!

Exciting news for all our fans in Japan!… Our jeans are now available at the famous Desert Hills Market select shops throughout Japan. DHM are great cult denim boutiques owned and run by The Flat Head. Of course they carry their Flat Head, Real Japan Blues and Googies brand products, but also multibrand selections from Warehouse, Evisu Japan, Samurai and more.
Currently they have 3 of our styles in stores now… WeirdGuy Pomegranate Selvedge, WeirdGuy Grey Selvedge and WeirdGuy Japan Heritage Selvedge.

The kinds folks from American Rag have just opened a few big time denim stores called Industrie Denim. The stores are BIG and carry more than 100 brands of jeans… some of which are pretty badass. The best part is that they offer expert tailoring and hemming services, and they have a wide selection of our jeans and tops.

Reversible Melton/Canvas Jackets

It’s getting cold outside and winter is coming fast! So, we have made some great new outerwear for this season… Reversible Melton/Canvas Jackets.

One side is made from heavyweight wool/nylon melton, which is produced in Quebec. The other side is a 100% cotton tough canvas from Japan. The jacket is fully reversible with snap bucket pockets and welt pockets on both sides for extra storage. Heavy duty snap closures are featured on all pockets and front closure.

The fit is a slim straight fit with plenty of room for your hoodie inside. The styling reminds me of old school Canadian hunting coats that my father sells to crazy hunting and workwear shops in Quebec. Those jackets were also reversible but had a bright “construction orange” canvas so that the hunter can be easily identified and hopefully not shot by his collegues.

Like all our products, these jackets are proudly MADE IN CANADA!
